Mark Kline

PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT / OWNER

With two decades of experience I find joy in crafting thoughtful, site-responsive homes that balance timeless design with a modern sensibility. My work is rooted in classical architectural principles, reinterpreted through clean lines, natural materials, and a deep respect for the landscape that surrounds each project.

I believe the best homes are shaped as much by their setting as by the people who live in them. Drawing inspiration from nature, I strive to reflect the beauty, light, and character of each site. My goal is to create spaces that feel grounded, intentional, and effortlessly livable.

Every project is a collaborative journey. I offer a truly bespoke experience, guiding clients from their earliest ideas through the final walkthrough and beyond. It is my goal to make dreams into homes that feel personal, functional, and deeply aligned with an individual’s lifestyle and aesthetic. My goal is not just to design a beautiful house, but to create a place that feels like the perfect fit.

Before founding my own practice, I spent 19 years with a nationally recognized boutique architecture firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, The Pursley Dixon Studio. where I honed my craft under the excellent mentorship of founder Ken Pursley. There as a principal architect and project leader, I was involved with the design and building of custom residential projects throughout the United States, including the mountains and coast of North and South Carolina, Wyoming, Vermont, Florida, California, Maryland, the Adirondacks of upstate New York, Tennessee, Illinois, Connecticut, and elsewhere, all the while developing lasting client and builder relationships.

My background is richly varied in experiences and education. I have played as a professional musician, have been a studio artist, and have even worked in a biology lab all while knowing my ultimate passion lies in tying everything together to create spaces that make people feel inspired in their homes. The interplay of light and darkness in evoking emotion and affecting experience in a space is a particular interest of mine and I enjoy adding unexpected moments of folly and unique details that set my designs apart and bring joy to my clients.

I hold undergraduate degrees in Biology and Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Architecture from the College of Arts and Architecture at UNC Charlotte. This blend of science, art, and design informs my holistic approach to architecture. I have recently been exploring healthy home initiatives to make sure spaces are not only beautiful, but also support the health and wellness of those who live there.

Outside of the studio, I enjoy playing music, spending time outdoors, and being with my wife and our three children. My love of family, community, and nature continually remind me why creating meaningful, livable spaces matters.

I look forward to working with you
